Sakimichan is a Canadian artist mainly known for her fan art digital paintings of popular animated characters including Johnny Bravo, Sailor Moon, and characters from League of Legends.

History

Digital Painting

In 2005, she started digital painting at the age of 13, with her first painting a silver haired woman (shown below). In February 20th, 2006, she opened a DeviantArt page ^[2] where she continued making digital paintings.

Professional

In August of 2013, Sakimichan started her job in Bioware as a Junior Concept Artist after graduating from Dawson College earlier that year.^[1] She left in August 2014, after working on designs for Mass Effect: Andromeda; she now works with free-to-play mobile games developer Cloudcade as a 2D artist.^[3] She also regularly appears at animation conventions, including Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Anime North in Canada, and Fan Expo.

Style

Sakimichan is known for her semi-realistic style, using Adobe Photoshop CS6 for most of her paintings. She has done a number of paintings featuring animal characters anthropomorphized, including Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony (shown below, left). She also genderbends characters, drawing them as the opposite gender they are, such as Disney's Hades (shown below, right). On April 17th, 2014, RocketNews^[4] covered Sakimichan's genderbent characters.

Online Presence

Sakimichan also has a Patreon^[5] where she uploads both SFW and nude versions of her artworks, where she includes art tutorials showing how she created each work.

Since 2006, her DeviantArt account has received over 36 million page views, and currently has over six thousand patrons on her Patreon. Her Facebook page has over 798,000 likes. She also has over 106,000 Twitter followers.^[7]
