About

The Mighty Jingles, known in person as Paul Charlton, is a YouTuber and a veteran of the Royal Navy. He is most notable for his videos on World of Tanks, World of Warships, and War Thunder. His main YouTube account, BohemianEagle, has over 645,000 subscribers.[1]

Early Life

Paul Charlton was born on March 10th, 1970, in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.[2] His father, who was a paratrooper at the time, separated from his mother in 1974 and later died in service under the French Foreign Legion. Paul's mother later remarried, and in 1978 his family moved to South Africa, then moved again to Swaziland a year later. His family didn't move back to the UK until 1986, at which time Paul was 16 years old.

Military Career

Paul joined the Royal Navy in 1989 at the age of 19, stating his lack of college education, along with the poor state of the economy at the time, as the reason for doing so. He enlisted as a radio operator, but wasn't very good at the job. He later moved on to being a writer (Personnel Logistician) as well as a First Aider on a medical ship. He later retired from the Royal Navy in 2011, after 22 years of service.

YouTube Career

World of Tanks

Jingles posted his first video (shown below) on June 16th, 2012, which was a replay of himself playing the Type 59 in World of Tanks along with his own commentary.

War Thunder

Jingles would later go on to cover other games, such as War Thunder. His first War Thunder video was posted on January 5th, 2013, while the game was in open beta. Jingles would later cover the closed beta of War Thunder's "Ground Forces" update on January 2nd, 2014, which added tanks and other armored vehicles.

His War Thunder videos would also be notable for the origin of the term "Jingles landing", in which Jingles was notorious for crash landing whatever plane he was flying at the time. He was even able to perform a "Jingles landing" with a submarine in the game "Cold Waters".

World of Warships

Jingles posted his first World of Warships video on January 26th, 2016, during the game's closed alpha test.

Other Games

Jingles also covers other games on occasion, such as nearly full playthroughs of Red Dead Redemption 2 (shown below, left),[3] Cyberpunk 2077 (shown below, right),[4] and the Subnautica series.[5]

Non-Gaming Videos

Jingles also has a casual discussion with his audience in his "Mingles With Jingles" videos (shown below, left).[6] He also has a small cooking channel in which he tries various recipes and shares them with his roommate, RitaGamer (shown below, right).[7]
