About

Zach King (born February 4th, 1991) is an internet celebrity well-known for his Vine videos in which he uses clever video editing to display magic tricks, calling them "digital sleight of hand"[1]. He won several movie contests and made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Final Cut King

Zach King started his career by registered the Final Cut King[2] website in December 2008 in order to offer tutorials on how to use the Final Cut Pro video editing tool. He then made a Youtube channel on January 15th 2009 to show examples of his work. His first video was a tutorial about how to obtain a visual effect called the "Pleasantville Effect" (shown below). The whole channel, as of march 2015, has gained more than 700 000 followers.



Rise to fame

On August 25th 2011, Zach uploaded a 15-seconds video titled "Jedi Kittens" and featuring two kittens having a Lightsaber Duel (shown below). As of March 2015, the video has gained more than 7 500 000 views.



Following his popularity as a movie creator, Zach made two sequels. "Jedi Kittens Strike Back" on September 11th 2011 (shown below, left) and "Jedi Kittens – The Force Awakens" on January 29th 2013 (shown below, right). As of March 2015, they have gathered over 13 000 000 views and more than 8 000 000 views respectively.

Vine

In September 2013, Zach went on to register a Vine account where he started posting six-seconds edited videos resembling magic tricks. As of March 2015, the channel is hosting over 180 videos and attracted more than 2.7 million followers.



Guest Appearances

After becoming one of the most popular Viners, Zach was invited to the Ellen DeGeneres show in January 2014. In April of 2014, Zach was invited to Ted x Portland where he gave a talk titled "The Storyteller in All of Us". (seen below)



Collaborations

Many of Zach's works have been done in partnership with Aaron Benitez, a friend of Zach's who specialized in After Effects. Of those videos, many feature Aaron's animal edits, including the virtual reality video they produced in late 2015.
