About

Pogo's "Forget" refers to the song "Forget" by electronic musician and visual artist Pogo, featuring clips from multiple Disney films. The track has been edited in several remixes on YouTube as users apply the music to various subcultures.

Origin

On May 20th, 2015, Pogo uploaded the video for "Forget", featuring clips from multiple Disney films, primarily from the "classic" era of the Disney Animated Canon (including movies such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Fantasia, The Jungle Book, The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan), as well as a few movies outside of the Canon (such as Mary Poppins and James and the Giant Peach); these clips are chaotically, haphazardly, and abruptly spliced and jumbled together to the tune of the melody. The video has gained over 5.9 million views (shown below). The track was released on his album Kindred Shadow, released on June 11th, 2015.[1]

The song itself is published to the mainstream and officially licensed, being available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, SoundCloud, and Bandcamp, among other services.

Spread

The song's video, combined with its surreal melody and incomprehensible lyrics, has made it ripe for parodies and fandom mashups which mimic its style, depicting a character "dancing" to the song by abruptly shifting between poses. These animations usually use only the first 40 to 50 seconds of the song, though a few elect to use the entire song. Some popular examples include an animation by Crowned Corvid posted November 18th, 2016 which gained over 1.2 million views (shown below, left). Another edit posted August 7th, 2017 by Kinky Spy featuring Sans from Undertale gained over 847,000 views (shown below, right).

Other videos remixed the song for their edits: for example, a slowed-down version of the song using characters from Steven Universe. The video, posted by Noble on March 2nd, 2018, gained over 400,000 views (shown below, left). A June 15th, 2017 video by user Shany extended the track and added a multitude of different characters, gaining over 1.6 million views (shown below, right).
