On February 27th, 2026, the announcement trailer for Pokemon: Waves and Pokemon: Winds was released, including on the Gamespot YouTube^[1] channel, garnering over 262,000 views in under a day. The trailer introduces the three new starter Pokémon: the grass type Browt, fire type Pombon and water type Gecqua.

That day, the official @Pokemon X^[2] account shared original artwork of the three starters in a post that gained over 150,000 likes and 8.8 million views in under a day.

The Gen10 Pokemon starters inspired numerous memes, fan content and reactions across social media after appearing in late February 2026.

On February 27th, 2026, Redditor MarikaSymphony posted a meme to the /r/Pokemon^[3] subreddit imagining each of the starters' final evolutions as having the same muscular body, which comes from the Pokémon Incineroar, garnering over 5,700 upvotes in under a day.

Shortly after, X^[4] account @Poo_Crave posted an image of Pombon, writing, "🚨: The Pokemon Wind & Waves fire starter is a gay little dog," garnering over 35,000 likes in about four hours.
