Browt is a grass-type Pokémon and one of the three available starters from Pokemon Winds and Waves. Browt, who resembles a bird with a seedling or plant on his face, was revealed on February 27th, 2026, with the release of the first trailer for the video games. It became the subject of memes over the following days, including fan art, concept art imagining its evolutions and more. Some memes refer to Browt as a Chud, with many claiming that he resembles the Chudjak meme.

Origin

On February 27th, 2026, the announcement trailer for Pokemon: Waves and Pokemon: Winds was released, including on the Gamespot YouTube[1] channel, garnering over 262,000 views in under a day. The trailer introduces the three new starter Pokémon: the grass-type Browt, fire-type Pombon and water-type Gecqua.



That day, the official @Pokemon X[2] account shared original artwork of the three starters in a post that gained over 150,000 likes and 8.8 million views in under a day.

Browt became the subject of fan art and memes throughout late February and early March 2026, becoming one of the more popular of the three starters.

On February 27th, 2026, X[3] user @magdraws posted a piece of art depicting Browt as the Duck with A Knife meme, garnering over 30,000 likes in five days.

About 20 minutes later, X[4] user @yuretaO posted a screenshot of Browt, writing, "Browt, the fat chud Pokemon," garnering over 1,600 likes in five days.

Later that day, X[5] user @serialboel posted a version of the Chicken Screaming on A Tree meme that replaces the chicken with Browt, garnering over 20,000 likes in five days.



On February 28th, 2026, X[6] user @aquisces_arts posted a piece of art depicting a freshly-hatched Browt, garnering over 169,000 likes in four days. It was reposted to the /r/pokemon[7] subreddit on March 1st, gaining over 6,900 upvotes in three days.

On March 1st, Redditor Nwarh posted a comic to the /r/comics[8] subreddit in which someone picks Browt as their starter because he's ugly and his name is dumb, garnering over 19,000 upvotes in three days.

On March 3rd, 2026, X[9] user @BrowtSol posted a piece of art depicting Browt with dreadlocks, titling the art "Browt Marley," garnering over 3,000 likes in a day.
