Que Bendición or What A Blessing in English refers to a catchphrase said by the Colombian streamer JH de la Cruz, used in situations in which something unexpectedly good happens. The meme became popularized in November 2022, being used as a reaction meme and exploitable video on social media.

Origin

On December 22nd, 2021, Colombian JH de la Cruz shared his first livestream on his Twitch^[1] channel and his emotional reaction was recorded by a fan, who shared an overlayed text caption of de la Cruz's on TikTok^[2] in the same day. The post, uploaded by @jhbananegro_, received 5.8 million plays and 404,400 likes in two years (see below).

In the video above, the streamer thanks the audience for joining his first live stream by saying "que bendición" or "what a blessing" in English.

After the first livestream's success, JH de la Cruz turned "que bendición" into his catchphrase for several forms of his social media content. For instance, during one of his TikTok lives, de la Cruz appears in a pool talking with his audience, who is spamming the comments with "que bendiciónes." The clip was recorded by TikTok^[3] user @nofumomarisola on December 27th, 2022, garnering 5.6 million plays and 713,200 likes in four months (seen below).

The phrase said by JH de la Cruz became a notable TikTok sound^[4] in October 2022, being used in content like @angel.nightz's TikTok^[5] showing a cold Coke while the audio plays out. Uploaded on December 29th, 2022, the video (below, left) garnered 16 million plays and 2.3 million likes in three months. Another example is TikTok^[6] user @gonchi30's post describing the feeling of sleeping in your bed after a long time away. The video (below, right) was uploaded on December 31st and received 6.4 million plays and 1.1 million likes in three months.
