Relax Bro Ain't Nobody Takin' It From U is a catchphrase used in reference to images of someone gripping a subject, such as a person or object, tightly, suggesting that they don't have to hold on to the item that strongly because nobody wants it. The phrase originates from a 2019 comment by X / Twitter user @susgawd left on a photo of someone gripping a sandwich with force and became the subject of memes over the following years, with the comment becoming an exploitable meme format in the 2020s. Oftentimes, "it" is replaced with "her" or "him."
Origin
On November 20th, 2019, X[1] user @biglovell posted a photo of themselves gripping a sandwich with force, writing, "this bitch bussin," garnering over 6,400 likes in six years.
Several other users made comments about how tightly they were gripping the sandwich, including now-deleted user @eviljeanyis, who wrote, "Nobody gonna take it from you bro relax your hand," which was posted to iFunny[2] by StrongArmSensei on November 24th, garnering over 27,000 smiles in the same span of time.
On July 2nd, 2020, iFunny[3] user zelduuuh posted a screenshot of a similar comment left on the post by now-deleted X user @susgawd, reading, "relax bro aint nobody takin it from u," garnering over 83,700 smiles in five years. This became the most popular version of the phrase in memes.
Spread
The phrase, as well as a screenshot of @susgawd's comment, were popularized as memes over the following years. The phrase and meme are mostly used in reference to images or videos of people gripping or hugging a subject too hard.
For example, on May 28th, 2024, X[4] user @chemicalaeon posted an image of Leon hugging Ada from the Biohazard 2 manhua comic, writing, "relax bro ain't nobody taking it from u," garnering over 2,200 likes in nine months.
On January 30th, 2025, X[5] user @checkyshka posted a piece of Sonic the Hedgehog fan art showing Shadow holding Sonic, writing, "relax bro ain't nobody taking him from u," garnering over 4,600 likes in two weeks.
