About

Ron Harper "Yeah. OK. Whatever. Fuck This Bullshit" is a reaction video of former American basketball player Ron Harper saying the line in the documentary series The Last Dance. Online, the reaction has been used to dismiss another's opinion.

Origin

On April 26th, 2020, ESPN aired the third episode of the documentary series The Last Dance, which examines the 1997-98 NBA season for the professional basketball team the Chicago Bulls. In the episode, former player Ron Harper discusses a game-winning point made by Michael Jordan known by fans as "the Shot." He said that in the last moments of the game, his coach put teammate Craig Ehlo on defense against Jordan, whom Harper defended throughout the game. He said of the decision, "We up by one. I said, ‘Coach, I got MJ. I got MJ.’ So the coach goes, ‘I’m gonna put Ehlo on MJ.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, OK. Whatever. Fuck this bullshit.’”[1]

Spread

After the episode aired, people began posting captions for the video, reacting to various subjects. Twitter user @soloucity tweeted, "5 mins into your 1st shift when quarantine ends." The tweet received more than 123,000 views and 340 likes in less than two weeks (shown below).

That night, writer Jemele Hill tweeted the video with the caption, "Me, when I’m forced to do any kind of math." The tweet received more than 533,000 views, 11,000 likes and 2,400 retweets in less than two weeks (shown below).

The day after the episode aired, Craig Ehlo told Cleveland.com that he was "shocked" by Harper's comments. He said:

I never said I was a Jordan stopper like Gerald Wilkins or anything. But back then Harp and me were on the court at the same time and he was our big offensive threat. So, when I came in it was a no-brainer that I would guard Jordan so Harp could rest on defense and play on offense.

Harp had never really talked about defense or guarding people. He wasn’t a bad defender, I will give him that much, but I think those years with the Bulls where he got those championships, he was definitely third or fourth fiddle, so all of a sudden he becomes this lockdown defender, apparently. I don’t really remember him during our time wanting to play defense that much. He kind of shocked me with those comments, saying he wanted to guard Michael.
