Rotating Duck Wearing Flippers is an image macro meme featuring a GIF of a spinning mallard wearing a pair of blue diving flippers. The image has been edited into a series of video remixes in which the GIF is set to different music (similar to Polar Bear GIF).
Origin
On March 13th, 2013, foroactivo[1] forum user Metemoto Sakamoto published the earliest available version of the spinning duck (shown below). The wrote, "todo internet lo hace el mismo pato estupido."

Spread
The following year, the GIF was uploaded to GIPHY [2] from Tumblr.
On May 3rd, 2019, Timotainment published a video entitled "The Duck," which added the GIF to other videos. The post received more than 44,000 views in less than one year (shown below, left).
