Saquon Barkley’s Backward Hurdle is a viral video and memorable moment in which the Philadelphia Eagles NFL player Saquon Barkley leaped backward over a defender during a football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a move called a "backward hurdle." The sports play went viral on social media in early November 2024 shortly after the game took place, with images of Barkley's no-look hurdle spawning reactions, memes and jokes online.
Origin
On November 3rd, 2024, during the Philadelphia Eagles 28-23 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL week 9, Saquon Barkley successfully executed a spin move to avoid a tackle and followed to spin away from another tackler but stopped mid-spin and hurdled a defender backward.
The NFL's official YouTube[1] channel posted a video of the moment (seen below) that same day, which amassed more than 491,000 views, 880 comments and 5,800 likes in two days.

Shortly after the play, many fans took to social media to express their admiration for Saquon Barkley's memorable backward hurdle move. For instance, on November 4th, 2024, the YouTube[2] page @ReactingYT uploaded a series of reactions from fans watching Barkley's play (seen below), which gained roughly 41,000 views and 540 likes in a day.
On the same day, X[3] user @FantasyPros posted the Chen San-yuan's Pokemon GO Setups viral video, captioning it, "Saquon managers liking every video of the backward hurdle they saw today." The post (seen below) amassed more than 23,000 views and 204 likes in a day.
