First released as a second single from 1995 album of the same name, the song has since appeared in multiple memes and gained significant popularity in meme edits on iFunny and Instagram in July 2019, particularly of ironic Awesome, He Finally genre.

On June 19th, 1995, American scat singer Scatman John released "Scatman's World," the second single from his upcoming album of the same name.^[1] The song reached number one chart position in several European countries, including Belgium, Finland, France and Germany and was certified Gold in Austria, France and Switzerland and Platinum in Germany.

Spread

Starting at least in 2007, the song, along with the other Scatman's songs, has been used in YouTube Poops, ^[2] also appearing in other genres of meme videos in 2010s (examples shown below).

Awesome, He Finally

Awesome, Finally refers to a subgenre of Scatman's World videos executed in the style of demotivational posters. On June 7th, 2019, iFunny user Wheat posted the first such edit of the 9 + 10 = 21 Vine, with the post gaining over 3,000 smiles within two months.^[3]

In the following weeks, the format gained a significant presence on iFunny and Instagram, with notable edits posted by users nehmyy,^[4] bruhloon^[5] and notkinghill.^[6] Additionally, the song has also been used in other types of memes on the platform.^[7]
