Screaming Into a Pot Challenge refers to a video which fools the viewer into thinking that if you scream in to a pot and quickly place a lid on the pot, once you lift the lid you may hear the echo of your scream.

Origin

On January 12th, 2018, Twitter user @Kevin_Corona18 posted a snap chat video of someone screaming into a pot and hearing an echo once the lid was lifted (shown below). The tweet gained over 42,000 retweets and 132,100 likes in a year and a half.

Spread

On May 1st, many Twitter users began posting parodies of the video. Twitter user @not_cheney posted a parody in reply to the tweet which gained over 1,400 retweets and 7,000 likes in a week (shown below).

That same day, Twitter user @kiwirayes replied saying "I don't think it's working" while posting a video of a bird screaming into a cup (shown below). The video gained over 1,800 retweets and 10,000 likes in a week.

On May 1st, TikTok users began posting parodies of the video. TikTok user @kierrapage7's parody gained over 95,300 likes and 5,500 shares in a week (shown below, left). On May 6th, TikTok user @yurialessio15 fool posted a video of himself tricking his father into thinking the echo was real which gained over 1,600 likes in a day (shown below, right).
