"Sgt. Sugarcookie" refers to a photograph of a heavy set young man dressed in BDUs, a plate carrier, and a MICH helmet, holding what is presumed to be an airsoft M4. The exact origin of the meme, as well as the original image, are unknown. But all surviving early examples of this meme are from the forum "AR15.com" and while one dates as far back as December 26nd 2006. The forum post was authored by a confused new user who wanted to know the origins of Sgt Sugarcookie and another related meme, Heavy 6.

Sgt. Sugarcookie is used as an image to poke fun at the game of airsoft, by using the stereotype that individuals who play airsoft are too out-of-shape and immature to join the military. This meme is quite old, and still sees levels of popularity today as it did nearly 20 years ago.
