After a user replied, "It's called consent, She Diddy," referencing the then-recent Diddy sexual assault lawsuits, the slang term was spawned and spread. The nickname inspired much mockery on Twitter in early April 2024, causing it to trend on the platform.

On April 2nd, 2024, Twitter user @themdoll^[1] posted a tweet reading, "once I reach fa tha dic & you move my hand u can get tf on gay ass nigga" (shown below, top). The tweet implies that if a man rejects her sexual advances, he's gay. @themdoll made their account private after the tweet spread, but screenshots remain on Twitter. On April 3rd, Twitter user @FirstName_Alan^[2] quote-tweeted the post, writing, "It's called consent, She Diddy," gaining over 3,900 retweets and 16,000 likes in one day (shown below, bottom).

The tweet caused "She Diddy" to trend on Twitter on April 4th, 2024, as users joked about and applauded the nickname. For example, that day, Twitter user @therealkj4^[3] posted a video joking about the clip, gaining over 40 retweets and 130 likes in a matter of hours (shown below, top). User @Pizza__Dad^[4] joked about misunderstanding the context behind the phrase that same day, gaining over 100 retweets and 880 likes in a similar timeframe (shown below, bottom).
