Siamés – "The Wolf" refers to a video for the song "The Wolf" by Argentinian electronic indie-pop band Siamés that spread online after an animated video for the track led to an animation challenge on YouTube.

Origin

The song was released as the first single from Siamés' debut album Bounce Into the Music, released August 2nd, 2016.[1] The song went viral in the anime and animation community a year later, after the publication of an animated video for the track by Rudo Company was posted to YouTube on April 21st, 2017 (shown below).


Spread

The video quickly became popular online. On May 2nd, 2017, less than two weeks after the video was posted, YouTuber Crowne Prince posted a critique praising the video, gaining over 139,000 views (shown below).


Animations

The video soon inspired fan animations set to the track. These animations generally show by walking or singing characters from the official video set with different styles. The trend spread particularly in the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) fan community, who created animations using the game's engine. One of the most popular FNAF animations was posted by SprinG on August 17th, 2017, gaining over 8.7 million views (shown below, left). Another popular FNAF animation was posted by YouTuber XboxGamerK, gaining over 3.1 million views (shown below, right).

Other artists put their unique spin on the video with original characters. For example, YouTuber PaintedSerenity posted an animation for the track that gained over 294,000 views (shown below, left). YouTuber Mitchieviously did the same, gaining over 444,000 views (shown below, right).

The video also inspired fan art on DeviantArt, Tumblr, and Twitter. For example, a tweet with fan art for the video was posted by Twitter user @MagnieMakoyana on July 5th, 2017 (shown below, left). DeviantArt user Yavohl posted fan art to their account on August 21st (shown below, right).
