SidewaysTok is an ironic meme trend that began to gain traction on TikTok in July 2025. After a series of "niche" memes like Obama Have Dih and What Kind of X Is This? went mainstream on the video sharing site, "niche community" meme makers began posting videos with the text displayed lengthwise, such that the viewer has to turn their phone to read it. TikToker @bruzz100 was the first to post jokes about SidewaysTok or SidewaysJuggTok, and joked about overthrowing the "tyranny" of vertical TikTok, even as TikTokers such as Gothic @agotth0tic posted about how forced and lame the trend is

Origin

On July 17th, 2025, TikToker^[1] @bruzz100 posted the earliest known "SidewaysTok" video, writing, "Since stretched TikToks are lowkey getting outdated, we should go sideways. We shall be called SidewaysJuggTok." The post gathered over 1700 views in a week.
