Sir Fedora is a YouTuber who achieved notoriety after several of his videos reached the front page of Reddit in February 2014.

Origin

On January 31st, 2014, YouTuber Sir Fedora posted his first vlog, informing his audience that he intended to upload iOS app and game reviews. In the video description, he indicated that he wished to receive 1 like for the video. On February 4th, 2014, Sir Fedora uploaded a video in which he expressed gratitude for receiving a single like on the video (shown below). On the following day, Redditor dragonboltz submitted the video to the /r/videos[1] subreddit, where it gained over 31,400 up votes and 3,700 comments in the first 24 hours.

Spread

Within 30 minutes of the dragonboltz submission, Redditor Set_Up_Us_The_Bomb launched the /r/SirFedora[2] subreddit, which accumulated more than 1500 subscribers within 24 hours. In the subreddit, subscribers refer to Sir Fedora as "the chosen one," and discuss the meaning behind his YouTube videos. The same day on February 5th, 2014, links to Sir Fedoras videos were submitted to 4chan's /b/ (random) board, but failed to be archived prior to deletion.[3]

Sir Fedora's Response

After seeing his Twitter[4] follower count rise the same day, Sir Fedora uploaded a video expressing his surprise for the sudden interest in his feed (shown below, left). Immediately after the video was posted, Redditor TheObeseOne submitted it to the /r/videos[5] subreddit. Several hours later, Sir Fedora released another expressing his surprise for having reached 16,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel (shown below, right). Meanwhile, the video was submitted to /r/videos by Redditor Gamerdude456, where it garnered upwards of 17,500 up votes and 2,000 comments in the following 24 hours.

@Midnight Interview

The evening of February 5th, Sir Fedora was interviewed on the comedy panel show @Midnight (shown below). During the interview, host Chris Hardwick informed Fedora that he would be receiving a new fedora felt hat as a gift from the show.
