About
TextingStory is a writing application that allows users to write original text message conversations and record them to video. The app has found a following in amateur writing circles on YouTube, where users upload and share their original stories.
History
TextingStory launched in the iOS and Android app stores on February 16th, 2016 on iOS.[3] On December 30th, 2016, the company released their first video to showcase the app. The video (shown below) displays a mock conversation using the app.[1]
The app was launched on Android the following year on October 11th, 2017.
Features
TextingStory is application that is available for both iOS and Android platforms. The app has three main features: writing, recording and sharing. Users can write stories in the form of text message conversations, allowing them to write correspondence to themselves. They can then record the conversation, so that each message comes in one at time. That recording can then be uploaded to various social networks, such as YouTube.

On April 14th, 2017, the TextingStory YouTube[4] account published a story video entitled "Scary texting story!" The video (shown below) tells the story of a couple who notice a threatening stranger in their house. Within less than one year, the video has received more than 280,000 views.
About one week later, the Facebook[8] account OpenMindedMothers posted a texting story entitled "Ladies night out 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏿♀️" The video (shown below) received more than 191,000 reactions, 168,000 comments, 1 million shares and 67 millions views in less than one year.
Several months later, on June 2nd, YouTuber[5] Wafflezila published a video entitled "Lockdown texting story." The video (shown below, left) received more than 1.6 million views in less than one year.
Later that month, a TextingStory featuring Phineas and Ferb was uploaded on June 25th by YouTuber[6] bob rodriguez. The video (shown below, right) received more than 957,000 views in less than one year.
TextingStory has also become quite common in shipping fanfic communities, particularly surrounding Hannie. On April 18th, YouTuber[7] Bratayleyforlife posted "#hannie," a shipping fanfic between the stars Annie LeBlanc and Hayden Summerall. As of January 2018, the video (shown below) has received more than 25,000 views.
