These videos became popular in September 2021 after YouTuber TheFactory made a video of SpongeBob rapping to Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar's "Range Brothers," which was followed up by SpongeBob and Patrick rapping "Family Ties," also by the duo. Origin

On September 21st, 2021, YouTuber[1] TheFactory, who is known for his remix and voice synthesis videos, posted a clip of SpongeBob rapping Kendrick Lamar's part of Range Brothers where he repeatedly says "top of the mornin'" (shown below). The video gained over 538,000 views in a month.

TheFactory also posted the video to Instagram,[2] where it gained over 49,000 views in the same span of time.

Spread

On October 6th, TheFactory posted a new video making an A.I. SpongeBob rap Baby Keem and Kendrick's song "Family Ties," gaining over 694,000 views in three weeks (shown below).

The video has inspired other SpongeBob versions of rap songs. On October 10th, Instagram[3] user @saboingabob posted a video using an AI to make SpongeBob rap a parody version of "Mom's Spaghetti" by Eminem, gaining over 5,100 views in two weeks (shown below).

On October 22nd, TheFactory posted a video of SpongeBob rapping "Off The Grid" by Kanye West, gaining over 435,000 views in a week (shown below).
