Overview

High School DxD is a Comedy and Harem Light Novel and Anime series created by Ichiei Ishibumi under the magazine Dragon Magazine, it follows the story of Issei Hyoudou, a lecherous high school student, he is suddenly asked out for a date by a girl named Yuma Amano, which brought him to a local park to make a startling request if she wants him to die for her, she reveals herself as a fallen angel and then kills Issei afterwards. He is later reincarnated as a devil by Rias Gremory, a voluptuous girl with crimson hair, making him her servant. Issei is destined to be the Harem King.

History

On September 20th, 2008, Ishibumi published the first light novel volume titled "Diablos of the Old School Building" with illustrations made by Miyama-Zero. An anime adaptation made by TNK aired on January 6, 2012 with 12 episodes (and 2 OVAs being episodes 13 and 14) and spawned 4 seasons (New, BorN and Hero) (Season 4 is animated by Passione) and the episode total is 53 (Including the OVAs). A new light novel is being produced titled "Shin High School DxD", the first volume was published on July 20, 2018 and it is currently in hiatus.

The series is notorious for it's fanservice scenes, back in the day, everyone in the internet either had Rias Gremory or Akeno as their waifu since the show is popular among horny teenagers and adults. There are also plenty of memes regarding the lewd nature of the series, it generated a bunch of horny reactions from people who have seen it and Rias Gremory to this day still one of the most popular girls in the series and the Anime fandom.
