About

Kingmakers is a third-person shooter game in which a soldier gets transported centuries beck into medieval era, tasked to change the course of past conflicts with an arsenal of modern weaponry. The game is scheduled for release in 2024.

History

In 2019, video game developer Road Redemption started development of Kingmakers. On February 20th, 2024, the announcement trailer for the game was released, garnering over 912,000 views on YouTube[1] and 18.1 million views on X[2] / Twitter in four months (shown below).



On May 21st, 2024, the second trailer for the game was released on X[3] / Twitter, gaining over 3.9 million views (shown below).

Reception

Announcement Reactions

The announcement trailer went viral on X, mainly due to it's bait-and-switch nature, with users quote posting the trailer. For example, on February 20th, 2024, X[4] user @seconds_0 commented, "This is the most insane game I have ever seen. Please watch until 23 seconds". The post garnered over 9,100 reposts and 97,000 likes on in four months (shown below).

On February 21st, 2024, streamer Asmongold uploaded his reaction to the trailer to YouTube,[5] titled, "Hell Yeah: The Game", where it gained over 498,000 views in four months (shown below).



On June 13th, 2024, gaming industry insider Jake Lucky reported that the game has reached 700,000 wishlists on Steam, reposting the trailer.[6]
