About
Mr. Saturn[1], is a fictional race found in EarthBound and Mother 3, and also appear as an item in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They are the primary residents in Saturn Valley in both games. Mr. Saturns are known for being very peaceful and quirky, and their very distinct way of speaking.
They are identical in appearance, each short, peach, with an overlarge nose, whiskers, and a bow on its one hair. They speak Saturnian (composed of odd looking English letters), and erratically use the words "boing," "ding," "zoom," and "Dakota". The Japanese font is said to be inspired by the handwriting of the young daughter of EarthBound's designer, Shigesato Itoi. He has stated that the race is the symbol of innocence in EarthBound.[2] The Mr. Saturns are often said to have no gender, but in Mother 3 a Mr. Saturn exclaimed "Girl, am girl" which, though it could mean a multitude of things, is one of several signs pointing to the idea that the Mr. Saturn have genders. Their coffee apparently has psychoactive properties, since both Ness and Lucas each receive a message set to a surreal and psychadelic background upon drinking some Saturnian coffee. First seen in EarthBound, they make a return appearance in Mother 3, the Japanese sequel to EarthBound. In both games, they help with repairing or building various machines.
EarthBound / MOTHER 2
WARNING. SPOILERS AHEAD.
The Mr. Saturn in EarthBound play a large role throughout parts of the game. They are first found at Saturn Valley, in Eagleland, which is just north of Threed. Many of them were imprisoned by Master Belch, who used them to do most of the labor in Belch's Base.
Late in the events of EarthBound, Dr. Andonuts and Apple Kid work with them to create multiple Phase Distorters. One was originally for the use of Ness and his friends, but was stolen by Pokey, who apparently also kidnapped a Mr. Saturn as well. The fact that the Mr. Saturn are capable of creating such technology shows that they are very dexterous creatures, despite their very odd dialect and habits.[3]
MOTHER 3
The Mr. Saturn in Mother 3 play a significantly smaller role. When Lucas first finds them, the Pig Army has them and Duster held hostage with Frightbots telling them scary stories until they tell them where the Needle is. After freeing them, the Mr. Saturns form a ladder leading to Fire Mountain. They have developed a hobby of going "fishing" for birds, laying down to stare at what is above them, and forming totem poles. Various members of the Mr. Saturn have single lines of dialog that don't have any significance to the player whatsoever. When Lucas and company must leave the enclosed Saturn Valley, the Mr. Saturn let them leave via tons of "birdies" in a cage. One of them asks Lucas for his Courage Badge and holds onto it for a long duration of Chapter 7[4].

Super Smash Brothers
Mr. Saturn is an item that appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He walks around the stage pushing other items along with it and can break shields very easily. He also cries when he makes contact with an opponent. If thrown, it deals very little damage and knockback, but can be used repeatedly, as he does not disappear after one use.[7] Mr. Saturn gives off a large amount of stun when it hits an opponent, making it great for combos. In Super Smash Bros. Melee, there are various bonuses related to Mr. Saturn. It also breaks the shield of any character who is hit by one being thrown.
