Parahumans is a series of web serials, starting with Worm, written by John C. McCrae, also known by his handle of "Wildbow." Worm received multiple updates a week from June 2011 to its conclusion in November 2013, totaling over 1.6 million words. Its sequel, Ward, ran from November 2017 to May 2020.
About
Worm [1] is a superhero story starring Taylor Hebert, a teenager with the ability to control bugs. It was the first web serial written by Wildbow.
Interest in Worm grew rapidly as the story progressed, with views rising from 13 readers in its first month to 1,390,648 readers in November 2013. As late as June 2018, Worm received over 600,000 readers in a month. [2]
Fandom
Following the conclusion of Worm, a large amount of fanfiction has been created based on the source material. As of November 2024, Archive of Our Own has over 4,500 fanfictions tagged, and the "Worm" category on SpaceBattles features over 7,500 piece of fiction. [3][4]
