Skam is a Norweigan teen drama created by Julie Andem and produced by NRK P3, a part of Norway's public broadcasting service NRK. The series, following the lives of teens at the Hartvig Nissen School in Oslo, garnered international acclaim and attention for its handling on a number of different topics such as mental health, homosexuality, and religion. The acclaim the show got also resulted in a number of adaptations created for different countries as a result with the same general concept.

History

The series was created by Julie Andem for Norway's public broadcasting service NRK. Unlike other shows, at the start of each week, Skam posts clips and content on social media daily, followed by a full episode comprising of that week's events. Additionally, each season focuses on one main character rather than the usual format of a whole series focusing on a main character.

Skam's first clip was uploaded on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015, with its official premiere with its first full episode on Friday, September 25th. The show would last for 4 seasons, consisting a total of 43 episodes, before ending on June 24th, 2017.

In 2018, a number of different adaptations of the show would premiere in different countries, with the US adaptation, Skam Austin, premiering on Facebook Watch on April 27th, 2018.
