Overview

The Basement Yard Podcast is a comedy podcast hosted and created by the YouTuber Joseph Patrick Santagato in September 2015. The weekly show often features Santagato's childhood friends, most notably Frank Alvarez, who has co-hosted the podcast since 2020. Clips of the show have been increasingly gaining popularity on TikTok, being paired with Overstimulation Videos memes.

History

Joe Santagato started his podcast The Basement Yard[1] on September 7th, 2015. The earliest episode[2] available is titled "19 Inch Penis' & Masturbation Methods," which featured Santagatos's brother Keith Santagato and his friend @D91Emigholz commenting on a 19-inch penis and their weirdest masturbation methods. The episode (shown below) amassed over 492,000 plays and 3,500 likes in eight years.



The podcast received a YouTube[3] channel on February 10th, 2018, with the earliest upload video titled, "Joe Santagato & Frank on Logan Paul's Return." The video[4] gathered over 164,000 views and 5,000 likes in a year. (shown below)



Online Presence

Clips from The Basement Yard started going increasingly viral on social media in July 2022, particularly on TikTok. For example, on July 3rd, 2022, the podcast's TikTok[5] page posted a clip in which the presenters are arguing about being called dad or daddy during an intimate relationship (shown below, left), which garnered over 10 million plays and 1.8 million likes in a year. On October 3rd, 2023, TikTok[6] user @dfwwdz uploaded an Overstimulation Videos video featuring a funny clip from the podcast (shown below, right), which garnered over 4 million plays and 208,000 likes in a month.
