The Helpful Fox Senko-San is a Japanese seinen manga and anime series following the lives of salaryman Kuro Nakano and 800-year-old kitsune Senko helping him with household chores. Following the premiere, the anime series gained a significant meme presence online.

History

On October 6th, 2017, the first issue of seinen manga The Helpful Fox Senko-San (世話やきキツネの仙狐さん Sewayaki Kitsune no Senko-san, literal translation: Senko, the Always-Helpful Fox), written and illustrated by Rimukoro, premiered in Comic Newtype magazine.[1] The manga follows the lives of stressed and overworked Japanese salaryman Kuro Nakano, struggling to find any happiness in life, and 800-year-old kitsune Senko, sent from the spirit world to take care of him by helping with chores such as cooking and cleaning his home.

On December 2nd, 2018, an anime television series adaptation was announced by Kadokawa Corporation, to be produced by studio Doga Kobo with Tomoaki Koshida as a director.[2] The series premiered in Japan on April 10th, 2019, with a total of 12 episodes scheduled to be aired.[1]



Reception

As of May 22nd, 2019, The Helpful Fox Senko-San anime maintained a 7.67 rating on MyAnimeList with over 13,500 votes submitted.[3] On IMDb, the anime had a rating of 7.9 with 38 votes.[4]

Online Presence

Following the premiere, the anime series gained notable recognition in meme communities online, primarily on the /r/animemes subreddit.
