About

Foxgirls, also known as Kitsunes or Kitsunemimi, refers to female characters with fox traits, normally defined by having fox ears and tail(s). There are several differences between a foxgirl and fox furry, a key difference being that a “fox furry” tend to have more fox-like traits, while foxgirls focus on the human aspect rather than the fox. Like catgirls, foxgirls have become a popular trope in anime, manga, and even some video games.

History

"Kitsune" is the Japanese word for "fox", and it often refers to the kitsunes of Japanese folklore. These foxes are commonly portrayed as wise, magical beings with the ability to shapeshift into humans. As the kitsune grows older, it gains more tails that signifies it's power, wisdom and age. However, the first kitsunes are actually fox spirits called Huli jing originating from Chinese Mythology.

Touch Fluffy Tail

Touch Fluffy Tail is a phrase from the erotic game (eroge) Monster Girl Quest. When faced against a kitsune named Tamamo , one of the possible actions the protagonist is able to perfrom is "Touch Fluffy Tail". Selecting this option will cause the player to be overcome by the "fluffiness" and lose the game.
