The Witcher: Monster Slayer is an upcoming mobile augmented-reality video game based on The Witcher franchise. In the game, the player assumes the role of a witcher, traveling the real-world locations to track and fight monsters and complete quests.

History

On August 26th, CD Projekt Red, the developer and publisher of the RPG series The Witcher based on the book series of the same name, announced[1] The Witcher: Monster Slayer a mobile augmented reality game based on the franchise, developed and published by CD Projekt Red's sister company Spokko for iOS and Android. On the same day, Spokko uploaded an announcement trailer and a gameplay trailer for the game to YouTube.[2][3]



On August 30th, Spokko launched[4][5] the early development version of the game for iOS in New Zealand.

Gameplay

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is a location-based RPG in which the player takes on a role of a witcher tasked with tracking and killing monsters. The gameplay of the game features exploring real-world locations in search of monsters, as well as certain RPG elements such as crafting potions, oils, bombs and monster bait, upgrading the character's skills and equipment and completing story-driven quests.

Within one week after the game's announcement, the The Witcher: Monster Slayer garnered over 4,500 followers on Facebook,[5] 3,900 followers on Twitter[6] and 3,600 followers on Instagram.[7]
