About
On May 6, 2010, a simple 14 second video of a dog bouncing along to the beat of a techno song entitled "Funny Dancing Dog" (also known as "Dog Feels The Beat", "Bounce Bounce Doggy Bounce", and more) was posted on Youtube. So far, it has racked up 1,241,569 views on the original video (and rising) plus the other thousands on the re-uploads of it. It was also awarded the #9 spot for Most Discussed Pets/Animals video this month (as well as countless other honors on Youtube). The original video's audio is a song by Evgenij Anegin entitled "Luna", also known as "луна".
Origin:
Supposedly, a car passing by saw the dog bopping up and down for seemingly no reason at all. The video's views skyrocketed when it was posted on buzzfeed.com, but it had been originally embedded on Facebook not even a full week before it began gaining popularity.
Popularity:
The video was originally posted May 5, but didn't begin to gain popularity until the 10th of May.
It had also gained popularity after a popular Youtuber by the name of Ray William Johnson featured it on his show. Ray William Johnson reviews viral videos his followers send in twice a week. His channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/RayWilliamJohnson
Here's his video that Techno Dog was featured in (it's right at the beginning):
Speculation:
Questions arose just as soon as this video was posted. Was the dog sick, and if so, is it okay? Where did this video come from? Who IS the dog? Why was this filmed? These questions, unfortunately, must remain unanswered for the time being, as everyone has theories but nobody is 100% sure at this time.
Remixes:
Though this video is relatively new, it has already become immensely popular. This video has been remixed and replied to many, many times, and has also upped the popularity of dogs bobbing to the beat. Even now, more remixes are being uploaded to Youtube. Some current remixes and spin-offs include:
