Tha Cliff refers to a trio of Flash animations that depict several stick figures attempting to get across a cliff, only to fail and die each time. The series quickly went viral and spawned several fan-made versions and parodies.

Origin

The series was created by animator Félix G. Harvey, who first posted the original Tha Cliff onto his YouTube channel xefpatterson on July 6, 2006. The video shows various stickmen trying and failing to cross a cliff through several means such as jumping, skateboarding, or creating makeshift bridges, set to "Dysentary Gary" by Blink-182. As of 2023, the video sits at over 9.7 million views.

The video's success was enough to warrant two sequels; the second entry releasing in 2007 and the third and final eventually being uploaded in 2011 after some delays regarding YouTube's copyright system.

Spread

Aside from reuploads on various Flash hosting sites such as Newgrounds, the series quickly went viral on YouTube with many other users creating their own versions of the video. Examples include Tha Cliff 1000, posted on January 12, 2009, which was uploaded by robsonmetaleiro123 and sits at over 90 thousand views, and THE OTHER CLIFF, posted July 8, 2008 by the user qorqeli that sits at over 60 thousand views.
