About
The Belly Press Thing or Lower Belly Move also known as the Belly Press Trick is a slang term referring to a sex technique where one presses down on a woman's lower belly above the pubic bone while having intercourse to help stimulate the G-spot, allowing for a more intense orgasm. The technique has been shared online throughout the 2010s but went viral on TikTok throughout 2022 as the "belly press thing" in videos sharing the technique and wondering if it actually works.
Origin
The technique has been shared online numerous times throughout the 2010s, often by health or lifestyle magazines. On December 13th, 2010, Men's Health[1] shared a version of the technique they called the "sandwich trick" where the woman lies on her stomach and presses her belly against the bed while having her G-spot stimulated internally. On July 15th, 2016, Glamour[2] shared the technique in an article titled, "How to Stimulate Your G-Spot From the Outside," where a 43-year-old woman shared, "If my partner places the palm of their hand right above my pelvic bone and gently applies pressure, it drives me crazy." Another woman shared that she learned the technique during a "squirting workshop." Sexologist Carol Queen, Ph.D., explained how the technique works in the article, claiming that pressing just above the pubic bone while having sex pushes the woman's bladder, which is right above the G-spot, downward, making it easier to stimulate.
In January 2022, TikTokers began posting videos sharing and wondering about the technique. For example, on January 12th, 2022, TikToker[3] @yourpalrick posted a video referring to the technique, garnering over 6.6 million views in eight months (shown below, left). On January 16th, TikToker[4] @shay.santoss_ then posted a video captioned, "does anyone know if this 'pressing on the lower stomach' thing actually works? Asking for a friend," garnering over 1.1 million views in eight months (shown below, right).
