The Diva Kid is the nickname of Brendan Jordan, a teenager who rose to fame online after a video featuring his Lady Gaga-inspired dance moves in the background of a live news broadcast began circulating on YouTube in October 2014.

Origin

On October 11th, 2014, YouTuber xbatusai uploaded a video titled "Kid goes full diva on live tv," featuring footage of a young boy performing various Lady Gaga-inspired dance moves in the background of a live CBS news broadcast from the Downtown Summerlin shopping center in Las Vegas, Nevada (shown below). In the first three months, the video gained over 4.1 million views and 2,000 comments.

The same day, YouTuber Justine David uploaded a video titled "Brendan Jordan the dancing diva at Downtown Summerlin grand opening," featuring additional footage of Jordan dancing in the background of a news broadcast (shown below).

On October 28th, the Crush Las Vegas video uploaded an interview with Jordan, who explained how to perform his "stank face" (shown below, left). On November 4th, Jordan uploaded a video on his new YouTube channel, in which he answered questions sent by fans (shown below, right).

American Apparel Deal

On November 28th, 2014, Jordan uploaded a video titled "Brendan Jordan – #AAHAUL," in which he promoted the "Black Friday": sale for the American Apparel clothing retailer (shown below).

On December 5th, 2014, American Apparel[2] released an ad featuring Jordan modeling various apparel items from the retailer (shown below).

Brendan is from Las Vegas, Nevada. He's half Peruvian (his dad was born and raised in Peru) and he learned Spanish from his extended family that helped care for him. He enjoys taking photos, shopping and collecting Disney memorabilia. In the future Brendan hopes to have his own TV show and design a clothing line. His biggest inspirations are his great grandmother Lucy and Lady Gaga. We were inspired by Brendan after seeing his fearless act of spontaneity and applaud his efforts with the LGBTQ community. Social Media Presence

Now a model and YouTuber, Jordan currently has more than 550,000 followers on Instagram[4] and more than 266,000 subscribers on his YouTube page.[5] One of pictures from June 28th, 2015 received more than 91,500 likes.[6]

On October 26th, 2015, the website Someecards reported on Brendan's growing social media presence.On February 16th, 2016, Brendan came out as genderfluid at the Human Rights Campaign's Time to Thrive conference.[3]
