About

The Flash Microwaving a Baby refers to a series of leaked scenes from the 2023 DC Comics movie The Flash starring Ezra Miller. In one scene, The Flash (also known as Barry Allen) is jumping toward a falling baby, seemingly saving it by putting it into a microwave. In another scene, The Flash is on the ground, gently putting a baby inside a microwave. The latter scene was purportedly altered, put in reverse by a meme creator. The videos were originally leaked on Twitter in June 2023, causing memes and reactions en masse.

Origin

On June 15th, 2023, Twitter[1] user @NirvanaM1nd tweeted a leaked scene from the then-upcoming movie The Flash in which Ezra Miller's character The Flash appears to jump upwards, putting a falling baby into a microwave. Twitter[1] user @NirvanaM1nd captioned the video, "How is this a real film bruh 'best super hero film in years' the fuck are you on like bruh this is ass what am I watching," gaining roughly 8,400 likes in one day (screenshot from the Internet Archive[2] shown below). The video was later taken down by Twitter via a copyright strike.

Although the leaked video has since been removed by Twitter due to the copyright strike, others on Twitter[3] reposted it in the days that followed (shown below).

Spread

Soon after the original tweet on June 15th, 2023, others on the platform started to joke about the scene. For instance, on June 15th, Twitter[4] user @LetItMelo captioned the video, "Batgirl was worse than this?" in reference to the cancelation of the Batgirl movie, gaining roughly 4,100 likes in one day.

Later on June 15th, Twitter[5] user @YourPalJimmy tweeted another scene from the movie, seemingly showing The Flash putting a baby into a microwave when already on the ground. @YourPalJimmy satirically captioned the video, "'Best DC movie since The Dark Knight,'" gaining roughly 8,700 likes in one day (shown below).

As purported in other viral tweets[6] posted after the aforementioned one, the video @YourPalJimmy tweeted was speculated to be altered by reversing it. Regardless, videos and memes of The Flash microwaving a baby surfaced on other platforms, such as on iFunny[7] and Instagram,[8] as it spread over the following days.

"Do you remember the time you used a microwave to save a falling baby, and everyone thought you were killing it? It was MEEEEE, Barry. I reversed the footage and put it on iFunny as a gif caption just so your shitty movie would get laughed at on the internet."
