Tweaking vs. Locked In refers to memes that juxtapose tweaking, or freaking out, typically on drugs, with being locked in or concentrating on something. Memes contrasting "tweaking" with being "locked in" grew in popularity in 2023, especially after the when you gotta lock in memes gained traction after August of that year.
Origin
The earliest known viral instance of a post posing "tweaking" and "locked in" in opposition to each other is a November 23rd, 2023 post on X[1] by user @nisemonova that reads, "zoomer little brother spent the entire aquarium trip today pointing and either going "that fish is locked in" or "that fish is tweaking" no in between." The post gathered over 78,000 likes in three months (seen below).
Spread
On January 3rd, 2024, Redditor[2] /u/petesmybrother posted a Two Wolves meme comparing "Tweakin" with being "Locked In." The post gathered over 200 upvotes in two months (seen below, left). On February 1st, Instagram[3] page @t1tt1esonmychoppa posted an "I have two sides" meme comparing the two terms, gathering over 1,000 likes in a month (seen below, right).
On February 24th, 2024, Instagram[4] page @massachusetts_official_ posted a Political Compass meme comparing Tweakin' and being Locked In and the terms "Menace" and "Chiller." The post gathered over 6,000 likes in two weeks (seen below).
