About

No Drama, No Controversy, Just X is a copypasta format used to highlight that a certain athlete or a famous person is unproblematic and is simply either great or terrible at what they do. Spawned by a 2020 post about footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, the phrasal template meme has been used both sincerely and ironically since.

Origin

On September 8th, 2020, the Facebook^[1] page Football is My Drug, Cristiano Ronaldo is My Dealer made a post about the footballer, praising him for not getting involved in "fake retirement, fake transfer sagas and blame games." The post (shown below) garnered over 4,100 reactions and 50 shares in four years.

Spread

Later on September 8th, 2020, the X^[2] / Twitter account @WelBeast remade the Facebook post, gaining over 810 reposts and 2,800 likes in four years. On September 9th, the X^[3] account @FootballFunnnys made a similar post that garnered over 2,600 reposts and 7,000 likes in the same timeframe.

In the following years, the format was used to praise footballers and other athletes. Notably, on June 30th, 2022, X^[4] user @DubsFanJay used the format in a post about basketball player Stephen Curry that gained over 3,100 reposts and 27,000 likes in two years.

A July 19th, 2022, repost by the Facebook^[5] page Courtside Buzz garnered over 55,000 reactions and 5,400 likes in two years (shown below, left). On January 8th, 2023, X^[6] account @BarcaUniversal made a post about footballer Andreas Christensen that received over 2,300 reposts and 45,000 likes in one year (shown below, right).

On February 16th, 2023, X^[7] user @scubaryan_ made the earliest found humorous post based on the format, repurposing it to criticize singer The Kid LAROI. The post (shown below, left) received over 2,800 reposts and 53,000 likes in one year. Later that day, X^[8] user @JhonnyWhite69 made a similar post about rapper Trippie Redd that gained over 1,600 reposts and 26,000 likes in one year (shown below, right)

On February 17th, 2023, X^[9] user @kanyestreams1 made the earliest found bait post based on the format, listing incorrect facts about rapper Kanye West. The post gained over 680 reposts and 5,800 likes in one year (shown below).

The format regained popularity on X in late March 2024 following posts by users @tatyanamirai^[10] and @Bigsports0,^[11] gaining more prominence during the 2024 feud between rappers Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
