Welcome To The Bread Bank refers to a viral animated sketch by YouTuber Sethical featuring three characters arguing at a "bread bank," aka a bakery. The animation has been remixed numerous times to feature other characters acting out the scene.

Origin

On November 13th, 2018, YouTuber Sethical^[1] released "Bread Bank (No Gluten)," the fourth episode in his Baku series. The animation gained over 6.3 million views in nearly six years (shown below).

Spread

The video soon inspired parodies in which people recreated the scene using different characters. For example, on February 6th, 2019, Twitter user @jodieph03^[2] posted a variation featuring members of BTS, gaining over 40 retweets and 80 likes in five years (shown below, top). On February 18th, user @mafuyuukis^[3] made an edit featuring characters from the show Banana Fish, gaining over 270 retweets and 500 likes in the same time frame (shown below, bottom).

On November 9th, 2019, YouTuber Cowbelly^[5] made an edit featuring Club Penguin characters, gaining over 660,000 views in five years (shown below, left). On March 23rd, 2021, YouTuber Xskull and Dr.Skull^[4] made an edit that gained over 350,000 views in three years (shown below, right).

On April 1st, 2022, Sethical released a sequel episode called "Bread Bank 2," gaining over 1.3 million views in two years (shown below).

The audio has also been used to soundtrack cat videos on TikTok. For example, on March 3rd, 2021, TikToker marleymalin used it in a video that gained over 931,000 likes in three years (shown below).
