Verbalase Running From Charlie Morningstar is an exploitable meme using a scene from the Verbalase Hazbin Hotel AMV in which Verbalese is running from Charlie Morningstar, replacing Chalie with with other characters. Another variant of the meme instead replaces Verbalese as the character being chased after.

Origin

The scene comes from the "Verbalese Hazbin Hotel AMV," which was discovered on YouTube in September of 2023 and reposted to several different sites after its popularity in January 2024. In the scene, Verbalese is running from Charlie Morningstar down a street before ultimately tripping (shown below).

The earliest known edit of the scene was posted to Twitter by ShootingFilms64^[1] on January 14th, 2024, which shows Verbalese running from Linkara. The edit (shown below) received over 19,000 likes and over 2,800 retweets in over one week.

Spread

Over the following weeks, various edits began spreading on social media. On January 15th, 2024, Twitter user AbicadabriVA^[2] posted an edit that shows Verbalese running from Oscar Proud. The edit (shown below) received over 60,000 likes and over 9,500 retweets in one week.

The meme split into video edits and GIF edits. For example, on January 16th, Redditor Doug4343 posted a GIF edit featuring Thawne from The Flash to /r/DEATHBATTLE,^[3] gaining over 890 points in one week (shown below, left). On January 18th, iFunny^[4] user SkinSuitStan posted an edit featuring a humorous GIF of Dante from Devil May Cry, gaining over 10,300 likes in five days (shown below, right).
