Wedding Rules is a TikTok video trend in which participants project an image of a list of requirements and guidelines for their ideal wedding. In the videos, the participant reads the list to the camera.
Origin
On December 28th, 2020, TikToker @asweazy published the earliest known variation of the meme. In the clip, the TikToker projects the list behind them. However, the TikToker says that the list is part of a video trend, so it is likely started before this video. The post received more than 218,000 views, 37,000 reactions and 570 comments in less than three months (shown below).

Spread
In January 2021, the meme spread throughout TikTok, inspiring more than 28 million variations.[1] On January 15th, 2021, for example, TikToker @sidneylindler posted a variation that received more than 2.4 million views and 544,000 reactions in less than two months (shown below, left).
This continued into February, as more TikTokers joined the trend. On February 19th, TikToker @flossybaby posted a version that received more than 3.4 million views, 1.1 million reactions and 14,000 comments in less than one month (shown below, right).
On February 26th, 2021, the website StayHipp[2] reported on the trend.
