Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Connor's Final Ride, often referred to as When I See You Again, is a two-panel image macro based on a scene from the 2015 action film Furious 7. The image shows the features the characters Dom Torretto and Brian O'Connor drive alongside each other in separate cars and smiling to one another.

Origin

On April 3rd, 2015, the film Furious 7 was released.[1] Prior to the film's premiere, actor Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Connor, was killed in a car crash. As a tribute to the late actor, the filmmakers included an ending wherein O'Connor exited the series in a scene featuring O'Connor and the character Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel) drive next to each other and smile at each other (clip below).

The earliest available usage of the scene as a two-panel image macro was posted by Twitter [4] user @FastScenes on April 3rd, 2015. The tweet received more than 325 retweets and 300 likes in less than five years (shown below).

On April 17th, Twitter[2] user @mensajedelavida tweeted a variation of the image. The tweet received more than 8,900 retweets and 8,800 likes in less than five years (shown below).

Following the release of the film, the image grew in popularity. On April 22nd, Tumblr [3] user zainclaw shared a series of GIFs that included the scene. Within five years, the post received more than 19,000 notes (screenshot below).

As time passed, the image was used in a series of object labeling memes. For example, on May 21st, 2016, VK[6] user MDK shared variation that received more than 10,000 reactions (shown below, right).

For example, on January 9th, 2020, Redditor [5] replaced the image of Walker with an image of the fictional character Ron Weasely from the Harry Potter film series. The post received more than 72,000 points (94% upvoted) and 195 comments in less than one month (shown below, right).
