Yeti Falling Down Hill or ŠKODA Yeti vs. Yeti Advertisement refers to a viral video of a man in a realistic yeti costume running toward the camera to attack the cameramen and then running past them and falling down a cliff. The video is from a 2016 Russian ŠKODA Yeti car commercial. In 2022, people on TikTok and YouTube began sharing the clip, framing it as actual yeti footage. The footage also became the subject of goofy ahh memes and shitpost edits.

Origin

On April 22nd, 2016, the ŠKODA Russia YouTube[1] channel uploaded an advertisement for their compact crossover SUV, the Škoda Yeti (shown below). The ad depicts two Russian men filming a yeti from afar as it rumages through a backpack. The yeti runs towards them then past them off a cliff, tumbling down. The video gained over 173,000 views in six years.



On May 25th, 2022, TikToker[2] @planeta_paranormal shared a clip from the ad where the yeti runs at the camera, cutting it off before he falls, captioned, "Yeti? 💀" garnering over 16 million views in three months (shown below).

Spread

People continued to share the clip as potentially legitimate yeti footage over the course of the month. On August 12th, 2022, TikToker[3] @lmistenapeo posted a longer version of the clip where the yeti is shown falling off the cliff, garnering over 13.9 million views in two weeks (shown below). On August 13th, YouTuber[4] SeparatedMind posted a video claiming the video is proof of yetis, garnering over 29,000 views in two weeks.

On August 14th, YouTuber[5] Chadward posted an edit of the clip titled "goofy yeti falls" adding siren sound effects and music to the clip, garnering over 9,800 views in two weeks. On August 15th, TikToker[6] @ja.hamez posted the clip with goofy ahh cartoon sound effects, captioned, "watch were you're walking💀" garnering over 168,000 views in a week (shown below).
