Anheuser-Busch Is Going To Give America Free Beer If It Hits 70% Vaccination By July 4th

Anheuser-Busch, the conglomerate behind beer brands including Budweiser, Michelob, Stella Artois, Natural Light and others, is danging free beer in front of Americans to incentivize them to get vaccinated.

In a statement released today, Anheuser-Busch said it will give all Americans a $5 virtual credit card for Anheuser-Busch beverages if the country hits President Biden's goal of having 70% of the population vaccinated by July 4th.

"We pride ourselves on stepping up both in times of need and in times of great celebration, and the past year has been no different," said Michel Doukeris, the chief executive of Anheuser-Busch. "We are proud to work alongside the White House to make a meaningful impact for our country, our communities and our consumers."

As of June 2nd, 63% of Americans have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, vaccination rates have slowed as vaccine-hesitant groups have not yet gotten a vaccine.

Still, Anheuser-Busch's offer of a free beer (or 2/3s of one, if you live in New York City) caused social media users to have some tongue-in-cheek optimism that vaccine rates would increase.

The move is yet another vaccination initiative the country and some of its corporations have taken to promote the vaccine. Krispy Kreme has been running a promotion that will offer Americans free doughnuts if they show their vaccine card when ordering.
