Behold, People Magazine's 'Faces Of Punk Rock'
For generations, nothing's gotten people riled up quite like debating what is and isn't punk, but it seems that most people can agree punk rock is certainly not a slideshow People Magazine just put out called Faces of the 2021 Punk Rock Scene.
After boldly leading with a Kardashian sister (Kourtney) as the "face of punk rock" in 2021, the listicle goes on to say that Travis Barker, Megan Fox, Machine Gun Kelly, TikTokers Jaden Hossler and Nessa Barret, Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne, Yungblud and Willow Smith are the punk rock faces of 2021. The listicle seems to be equating wearing black and having tattoos with being punk, as descriptions in the listicle include, "The all back-sweatsuit, the angst… the TikToker embodies the punk attitude" (Barret) and "MGK with a neck tattoo is synonymous with punk rock" (Machine Gun Kelly). The listicle also called Avril Lavigne "the original punk rocker girl."
The listicle seemed practically designed for rage-clicks, as even if People Magazine's pool of eligible candidates was limited to (arguably) household names, it seems remiss to not include Olivia Rodrigo, as her recent hit "good 4 u" is the biggest pop-punk song in years. Nevertheless, people rage-clicked and shared away, as the dunks came flowing throughout yesterday afternoon.

Give the director of audience at @people a raise because the hate clicks on this one are spiking. This is how you troll your audience at the end of the month to hit traffic goals, folks https://t.co/yWWdfUegIS

Congratulations to People Magazine for their new role as punk rock kingmakers, and for creating a list that united music fans everywhere.
