Olivia Rodrigo is an American actress and musician best known for her song Drivers License, which became number one in several countries thanks largely to its presence on TikTok.
History
Olivia Rodrigo was born on February 20th, 2003 in Temecula, California.[1] She entered the public eye in 2016 playing Paige Olvera in the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark. She also starred as Nini Salazar-Roberts in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series starting in 2019. There, she dated co-star Joshua Bassett, a relationship which is rumored to have informed her music.[4]
On January 8th, 2021, she released her single "drivers license," which quickly became a smash hit and propelled her music career. In April and May 2021, she released singles "Deja Vu" and "Good 4 U," respectively. On May 21st, 2021, she released her debut album Sour to positive reviews, with critics comparing it to the music of Lorde and Taylor Swift.[2][3]

On January 8th, 2021, Olivia Rodrigo released her debut single, "Drivers License" along with a music video to YouTube, garnering over 208 million views in four months (shown below).
The song quickly propelled Rodrigo to music stardom. The song received praise from critics, including positive reviews by Rolling Stone[5] and Vulture.[6] On January 11th, Variety[7] reported that "Drivers License" was the most-streamed song in the U.S. on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The song saw massive success on TikTok, where users posted reactions to it, skits, and lip-sync videos among other things.

The song hit number 1 in nearly every global chart, and was certified triple platinum by the RIAA.[8] Saturday Night Live produced a skit in which the cast discusses the song, praises it, and sings along.
