Beloved Gaming Twitter Account Nibel Officially Leaves Platform Amid Uncertain Future
For years, a handful of accounts that aren't directly linked to video game journalism outlets have often led the charge in giving breaking news straight to the consumers via Twitter, with the account Nibel (@Nibellion) being one of the most well-known in the field.
After many years of providing up-to-date and breaking news in gaming, as well as information on upcoming and live sales, Nibel has officially called it quits on the platform shortly after Elon Musk's takeover, which led to some broad speculation.
really cannot think of a more ominous sign for the future of twitter as a platform than Nibel quitting

Nibel is leaving Twitter, and you can (partially) blame Elon Musk https://t.co/B4uFzSMu5A pic.twitter.com/1odwX0Ur8x

Gaming Twitter has just lost one of its biggest source of reliable news outlets. Nibel has left Twitter.
In any case, you didn't know. Twitter accounts like this doesn't get paid for any news coverage. So good for him to move on and focus on something that benefits him. pic.twitter.com/cJVTU90tln— Fighting-Games Daily (@FGC_Daily) October 31, 2022
While many were blaming Musk and his "new Twitter" as the reason that Nibel decided to quit the platform, a statement released by him revealed that he had tried to monetize himself via a Patreon, only to fall short of what he expected to be able to make based on the amount of work that he had put into it.
This statement itself caused a wave of memes and hot takes to spread shortly after, as some people began to poke fun at him for failing to "monetize tweeting" or thinking that tweeting other news sources was itself something to gain money from.

Sorry, the Nibel account is quitting twitter because his Patreon failed? Like yeah, I liked his account, but all he did was repost news readily available from other sources. You can't monetize a Twitter account especially one that just reports other people's works pic.twitter.com/9zXWBXwQnd

People were already quick to immediately begin posting about their backup sources for gaming news and journalism, with the account Wario64 singled out as a main pillar of the community now that Nibel has left.
Others did one last glance at his impact, with his departure from Twitter making enough of a splash to trend even on a major United States holiday.

I think it says a lot that there have been multiple news articles about Nibel leaving Twitter, not to mention his account was the #4 trend on Twitter US
His contribution was immeasurable
Will miss his presence on here for sure. I wish him the best of luck for the future! pic.twitter.com/E2nFjz5v0Q— Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX) October 31, 2022
