Ben Shapiro posted a tweet over the weekend that gave his opinion on The Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson. In contrast to the mostly positive reception the film's seen so far, Shapiro thought it was bad, making his opinion publicly known. In subsequent fashion, Twitter users reacted to his hot take.

Shapiro posted the tweet last Friday upon the film's release, earning roughly 13,100 likes in four days. He then added onto the tweet to make a four-reply thread, telling his followers he was going to upload an extended review of the movie at a later date to give his reasons for the low score. For the time being, he told his audience, "'The Batman' hates Batman as a character. And this presents a rather large problem," later adding, "I lied, one more note: the one upside is the aesthetic, which is terrific. It's very film noir. All done for now."

Even if the movie was bad, the fact that Shapiro was passionate enough to tweet about it was inherently funny to many. His rigid and matter-of-fact way of speaking could be heard in the tweets that many on the platform took to memeing about it. Multiple users referenced the No Bitches? template while others ironically joked about Shapiro spreading misinformation with his Batman opinion. Some referenced the term Getting Ratioed, being the unofficial law on Twitter of replies outnumbering likes and retweets on a given tweet.

Others referenced a news article that was written by Indie Wire in December 2019 that said Robert Pattinson would turn to "Arthouse Porn" if The Batman didn't do well. Some jokingly suggested that this must be Shapiro's motive for the bad review.

As he promised, Shapiro uploaded his review of The Batman the following day on Saturday, featuring a 14-minute long YouTube video of his hot takes and spoilers. He cited multiple left-leaning politics that purportedly infiltrated the movie's dialogue among other factors that made him dislike it. Discourse in the comment section was mostly tame, responding to his opinions with measured counterarguments. If anything, this alludes to the movie's potential going forward as a memorable, blockbuster classic.
