A meme-fueled war over fine drinkware erupted on Twitter as a post offering a choice between Gromit Mug and Monkey Mug started a conflict that could not be resolved peacefully.

It all started on Sunday when the Twitter account Things That Changed the Internet asked others to make a choice between Gromit Mug, a long-time favorite among meme lovers, and Monkey Mug, a new but worthy contender. Upon making the choice and pressing one of the buttons, users were prompted to copy the tweet on their timeline, ensuring its continuous spread.

As people picked sides, the split between the Gromit Mug worshipers and the cult of the Monkey Mug naturally formed.
