Christopher Lloyd Appears As Rick Sanchez In Brief Clip Shared By Adult Swim, And No One Knows What It Means

Rick and Morty fans were faced with a "drop everything and figure out what's going on" moment when Adult Swim dropped a 15-second clip showing live-action actors playing Rick and Morty: Christopher Lloyd and Jaeden Martell.

At the moment, it's unclear what this is teasing. Is there a full live-action Rick and Morty episode coming? Is this just a teaser ahead of the show's fifth season finale? Adult Swim hasn't provided any context, though Adult Swim official Jason Demarco, in his tweet about the video, characterized the shot as a "very fun day on set," which may indicate Lloyd and Martell's turn as Rick and Morty was just a one-off thing.
Lovely man, btw. Very fun day on set.

It's particularly fitting that Lloyd played Rick Sanchez. Rick Sanchez is himself a parody of Doc Brown from Back to the Future, as can be seen in the short that launched Rick and Morty_, Doc and Mhartichannel=RickandMorty. The choice was not lost on many commenters responding to the video.
this is christopher lloyd parodying a line from star wars while playing a character that is a parody of another character that christopher lloyd played https://t.co/JccrKsRFIh

Christopher Lloyd has now appeared as Rick Sanchez, meaning the snake has now eaten it's tail. https://t.co/Wna6k8SMYl

If nothing else, it was a pleasant surprise to see Christopher Lloyd, now 82, delighting audiences once again.
