Elon Musk And Grimes Change Baby's Name...Again
Drop the "12." Just "X Æ A-Xii." It's cleaner.
Taking a page out of The Social Network, Grimes and Elon have made their baby's name cleaner. Sort of. The couple has, once again, made headlines with the unconventional naming of their child. The baby formerly knowns as X Æ A-12 shall now go by "X Æ A-Xii."
In an Instagram post in which Grimes shared a black and white photo of herself with the caption "We have spilled too much blood and not enough wine," for some reason, Instagram user @therealsainti asked, "Did you change the baby name because of Californian laws? What is the baby's new name?"
"X Æ A-Xii," replied Grimes.
According to the California Department of Public Health Records Handbook, the requirements for completing a birth certificate include "using the 26 alphabetical characters of the English language." Some punctuation and symbols may be allowed, as in the case with hyphens, apostrophes and commas. However, pictographs, ideograms, diacritical marks and other characters are prohibited.
While "Æ" may still disqualify the name, changing the numeral "12" to "Xii" clears up one confusing aspect of the name, which became a meme soon after breaking into the news cycle.
On May 5th, Grimes attempted to clear up the pronunciation and meaning behind the name.
•X, the unknown variable ⚔️
•Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent 🤍

Many online widely mocked the name, and it doesn't seem like this tweak is going to slow down the memes regarding the baby's name. It is also unclear whether or not this will satisfy the legal requirements that the name allegedly dodges.
