A New Jersey teenager has won the honor of seeing her artwork hang in the United States Capitol building. Her artwork is fan art from the show Hannibal.

The cubist piece by Shawnee High School student Kathleen Palmer, called 'Dolce,' depicts Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter. Graham embellished with antlers, a reference to a common visual theme on the show.

Every year, the United States House of Representatives holds a contest for high school students to submit artwork, and the winning piece will hang in the Capitol for one year. Whether the adjudicators of the Congressional Art Competition recognized the pop culture reference in Palmer's piece is unclear, but as the news spread, the Hannibal fandom quickly noticed. Showrunner Bryan Fuller retweeted the news with the hashtags "#FANNIBALFAMILYFOREVER #FANARTISART."

At the very least, New Jersey representative Andy Kim played along with the feel-good story, inviting Fuller to see the piece in the Capitol and urging him to make a season 4 (Hannibal ended after three seasons).

Others online were amused by the silliness of the story.

Only in 2021 could a piece of fan art for a show about a cannibal drawn by a New Jersey teenager be the second weirdest thing to enter the Capitol building.
